D.L. LANCE
VEILED VIGILANCE
B.J. Bouchet is an air traffic controller whose professional skills are indisputable, but whose self-induced demons have left him in emotional shambles. Numbered among his woes are a bitter divorce as well as a DUI conviction and enforced therapy. Quite unexpectedly, a budding romance with a beautiful immigrant named Asha seems to rescue him from his torment.
Asha’s dysfunctional family, however, poses ethnic and legal obstacles that must be resolved before they can plan for a life together. B.J. determines that the only viable course of action is to use his vast knowledge of the air traffic system to orchestrate an illicit solution to their dilemma. However, during the implementation of his plan, he discovers that Asha’s family has a sinister purpose in mind that will endanger the entire east coast of the United States. Taking matters into his own hands, he attempts to undo his technological shenanigans, but he is thwarted and detained by the authorities. His frantic efforts to dismantle what he has set in motion leads him to an extraordinary and harrowing course of action that ultimately proves to be deadly.
Can one man stymie the malevolent plot that is being hatched and avert a cataclysmic incident? And, regardless of the outcome, how will his efforts be characterized by those in authority? Both B.J. Bouchet and the reader will have to wait until the very end to find out.
BIO
D.L. Lance is a former air traffic controller who spent his formative years in New York City and most of his adult life in the greater metropolitan area. He is a graduate of New York University. For almost all of his twenty-year career as an air traffic controller he worked at the New York TRACON, a radar facility that handles all air traffic going into and out of the New York area. Thus, his perspective is an insider's view of the complex National Airspace System.
As an author, he is a late bloomer and although this is his first publication, he is presently working on two other literary projects--both of which explore the systemic venality of society. When not frightening the general public with tales of covert corruption and cataclysmic disasters, he keeps busy as an avid tennis player and baseball fan.
D.L. currently lives in the Baltimore, Maryland area with his wife of 48 years.
